MESE recognise that through everyday activities, we all have a responsibility for the environment.
Environmental performance and compliance are the driving force behind the management and decision making at MESE. All 3 MESE EFW plants are highly regulated, monitored and assessed regarding its Environmental performance. MESE is dedicated to reducing its environmental aspects and their potential environmental impacts. MESE employs a robust Environmental Management System conforming to all its regulatory obligations, permit conditions and certified to the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard.

Robust and structured audit programme, MESE is audited by two external bodies as well as employing external independent auditors to verify its continuous improvement programmes and standard compliance
Over recent years MESE has continued to improve its environmental compliance across the group with current levels reaching around 99% operating time within compliance over the year, MESE’s aim continues to be 100% compliance
MESE continually monitors and reports on determinands such as HCl, SO2, NOx, CO, VOC & particulate matter. Across all parameters, across the group, actual emissions were, on average over 86.9% and 63.4% lower than 10 minute or ½ hourly and daily limits respectively
